Having Mexican roots in the US

Alonso comes from California. He is an American with Mexican roots. Before crossing the border with Mexico, in Nogales, Arizona, he shared with us his opinion about building even bigger wall between the two countries: “I remember when I was a lot younger, it was so easy to cross. We would just cross very casually, it would take no time, what soever, and I would just tell I am an American citizen. And now crossing back, or even going there is more extensive checks, it is a lot harder to get in and out. I know what is the situation that is going, there is a lot of checks, that is necessary. However, to build a wall, even larger wall, it is not going to make anything different. It is creating more tension.” Also, he shared with us his experience of discrimination because of his Mexican roots.
