Lake Ohrid in Macedonia
Categories: English, Health and well-being, Photo, Text, Youth and the world
Lake Ohrid lays in between high mountains, on the border between southwestern Macedonia and eastern Albania. It is one of Europe’s deepest and oldest lakes, preserving a unique aquatic ecosystem that is of worldwide importance, with more than 200 endemic species. Lake Ohrid is the deepest lake of the Balkans, with a maximum depth of 288 m. It covers an area of 358 km² – and we can say that the feeling of watching the horizon is similar as on the sea cost.
